We are delighted to welcome as keynote speakers for 2017 Jacqueline de Rojas, President of techUK, Kate Denby, Executive Director of Northern Stage and Lisa Hogan, Chief Inspector, Northumbria Police.

Jacqueline de Rojas, President, techUK

 Jacqueline is the President of techUK and sits as a Non-Executive Director on the board of UK technology business Rightmove plc. She serves on the government’s Digital Economy Council and advises the Department for Exiting the EU. She is a business mentor at Bird & Co offering board and executive level coaching and is an advisor to the boards for Digital Leaders and Accelerate-Her. She is especially delighted to lend her support to the Girlguiding Association as a special advisor for their technology transformation.

In 2016 she entered the @Computerweekly Hall of Fame after being voted Computer Weekly’s Most Influential Woman in IT 2015; she was listed on Debretts 2016 500 People of Influence – Digital & Social and named in Europe’s Inspiring Fifty: most inspiring female role models for 2017. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion which informs where she places her support and drives reform.

Happily married to Roger Andrews, they have three children and three dogs. Yoga is how she finds her balance…

Kate Denby, Executive Director, Northern Stage

Originally from Whitley Bay, Kate has forged a career in theatre management through a range of organisations of different scale in the UK and US. She returned to the North East in 2015, when she joined Northern Stage as Executive Director.

Following a university degree in Public Relations, Kate interned with the Big Apple Circus in New York for a year before returning to the UK and becoming Administrator at Oval House Theatre. Kate joined the Gate Theatre, Notting Hill as Executive Producer in 2008, and worked closely with Artistic Directors Natalie Abrahami and Carrie Cracknell on a range of productions, co-productions and transfers, including THE KREUTZER SONATA (Gate/La MaMa ETC, New York), YERMA (Gate/Hull Truck) and ELECTRA (Gate/Latitude).

Kate joined Hull Truck Theatre as Producer in 2012, where she oversaw the producing and programming of all theatre activity, and led the creation and development of GROW, Hull Truck’s artist development programme. Productions at Hull Truck include: THE KITCHEN SINK by Tom Wells, directed by Tessa Walker; QUEEN OF THE NILE by Tim Fountain, directed by Mike Bradwell; and the UK tour of A TASTE OF HONEY by Shelagh Delaney, directed by Mark Babych. Kate was involved in the development of Hull’s successful bid for UK City of Culture 2017, and presented the bid to the selection panel in Derry-Londonderry in November 2013. Kate is a Board Member at Freedom Festival Arts Trust in Hull.

Lisa Hogan, Chief Inspector, Northumbria Police

Lisa joined the Metropolitan Police in 1999. After completing her probation period, she moved into the CID and was involved in proactive and reactive investigations.

She transferred to Northumbria police in 2003 to perform front line uniform posts and was part of a neighbourhood policing team. She was promoted to sergeant in 2006, and then again to Detective Inspector in 2011.

Following a rigourous process, Lisa achieved the rank of Chief Inspector in 2014 and is currently the Force Operations Manager for Northumbria Police

Having worked her way through the ranks Lisa is a role model for other women in the Police and beyond. She is determined to help other women make progress and she launched the Northumbria Police Association of Women in Policing in 2016. She is actively engaged in encouraging more females to join the Police and in helping them achieve promotion.
