Celebration of achievements at Prizegiving
Prizegiving at Sage Gateshead on Thursday 17th September was our opportunity to congratulate the girls formally on their academic achievements and it was wonderful that so many girls walked across the stage to collect such an impressive array of awards and prizes.
The evening began with a spellbinding poetry reading by Rosie Davenport, (If I should have a daughter)! Accompanied by music and dance, Rosie’s delivery of the words of the poem touched a nerve with the whole audience and set the theme for this year’s Prizegiving – Resilience.

Newcastle High girls stand out from the crowd
We received this lovely comment from a parent whose daughter will be joining us in September:
"I was walking my dog In Jesmond Dene and there were lots of groups of school children out enjoying the sunshine. However, your girls stood out from all of the other groups by a long way. They were so well behaved, uniforms looked fantastic and they were really listening to their teachers. Not only that but all of the girls stepped aside to let me passed - the only school group ever I've seen do that whilst I've been walking our dog.
"I'm so so glad that my daughter will be joining you in September. The girls were an absolute credit to the school. My daughter was very excited to have seen them and apparently wants to be just like them in September."
Elizabeth places for England
We are delighted to learn that one of our alumnae, Elizabeth Mooney, has come 3rd in a national cross country competition - an outstanding achievement. Selected to run for England, she was competing against runners from all the countries within the United Kingdom.
Elizabeth is currently in her second year at Newnham College, Cambridge where she is reading History and successfully combining running with her academic studies. “Cross Country running is very important for me. It is essential to have something else in your life other than work,” says Elizabeth.
