For the past four years we have opened our doors on Saturday mornings to Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools, providing some serious fun and structured educational support. The project has been supported by SHINE, a charity that exists to help children and young people, expand their horizons and increase aspirations.

Called ‘Serious Fun on Saturdays’, we have worked with these children to help raise their ambitions by encouraging them to become more confident and positive about the value of education.

The eleven week programme is supported by our teachers and Sixth Form volunteers who put their heart and souls into the programme to make sure that the children involved have an outstanding experience. Over the weeks, the Sixth Form volunteers are fabulous role models and they learn how to manage, lead and motivate the children taking part. Being involved in Serious Fun on Saturdays is an incredibly worthwhile experience for all.

The NHSG Scholars’ Fund enables our Year 13 Leavers to give the gift of education to another girl.

We ask all our Year 13 Leavers to donate their deposits at the end of their school career here at NHSG to the Scholars’ Fund. The Scholars’ Fund will support bursaries for bright, dedicated girls who come to us through the SHINE programme.
