Olivia Brown and Sarah Saeed both from Durham are celebrating outstanding results across the board.

The girls achieved 16 A*s and four As between them!

16 year old Sarah said: “I was aiming high but after the Chemistry paper I wasn’t confident and the Maths was so difficult so I wasn’t really expecting to get the grades I got.”

After gaining nine A*s and an A, Sarah will now take Chemistry, Biology, History and English Literature A Levels at Newcastle High School for Girls and has hopes of going into either Medicine or Law at university.

Sarah said: “Mum and dad were thrilled with my results. They are both doctors and I have always said I wouldn’t follow the same career but now it is definitely a consideration.”

Sarah’s advice for those embarking on their GCSE courses is to “keep on top of everything so it doesn’t feel daunting, always try your best. It is in your hands.”

Meanwhile Olivia has ambitions to be a vet and will be taking A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, History, and Maths at Newcastle High.

“I have always been interested in being a vet. Being at Newcastle High has given me the confidence to know that this ambition is a possibility. Believing that you can do it is so important in helping you get good grades.”

Olivia is particularly looking forward to Sixth Form at Newcastle High. “I have been here since Year 7 and Sixth Form is the jewel in the crown, I have been so looking forward to it. I love the School; there is a really strong community here.”
