Sweeping the board with all Grade 9s at GCSE, Maia Broughton was ‘absolutely thrilled’ to learn of her success when opening her results envelope at NHSG this morning.

Speaking about her outstanding achievement, Maia said: “I felt a great sense of relief. I am so glad that everything I had worked for has paid off.”

Maia who is ultimately hoping to work in the finance sector, is now looking forward to her Sixth Form Studies at NHSG where she will be taking A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Geography and Physics.

“I have always been more confident in Science and numerical studies, hence my reason for choosing Maths and Physics and I have found Geography fascinating which is why I have decided to continue with it at A Level.”

As well as looking forward to starting her A Level courses, Maia is excited for the new experiences that being in Sixth Form at NHSG will bring, not least in having access to the Sixth Form Common Room, but most of all in being able to widen her circle of friends and the opportunity to meet the new girls who will be joining NHSG at this stage of their education.

Alongside her academic studies, Maia plans to make the most of her Sixth Form experience through her involvement in Sport and Music at school.  Her passion for Hockey in particular has been reignited by this summer’s Olympics while, as an accomplished young musician, she is aiming to add Grade 7 piano to the Grade 8 she has already gained in trombone.

When asked about what advice she would give girls embarking on their GCSEs she said: “Pick the subjects you enjoy so you enjoy working hard in them.”
