NHSG girls are flying high today after news of tremendous results at GCSE. They follow in the footsteps of their older peers who also collected superb A Level results just one week ago.

Newcastle High is delighted to report that nearly 60% of grades awarded are at the top A*/A grades and an incredible 44 girls have each achieved eight or more A*/A grades, 20 of whom have been awarded ten straight A*s and As.

The results across all subjects are excellent:

  • Well over 60% of grades in separate Sciences – Physics, Chemistry and Biology are at the top grades of A */A
  • More than 90% of the grades are at A* to B in Creative Arts subjects
  • All 14 girls taking Latin achieved A* – B while in Humanities 85% of the grades awarded in History and Religious Studies were at A* and A

Hilary French said: “I would like to congratulate the girls on their outstanding results. It has been wonderful to see how they have developed and grown in academic skills and I am thrilled for them.

“To achieve at this sort of level requires hard work, dedication and commitment from the girls as well as exceptional support and guidance from their teachers. The dedication of our staff is second to none and they work tirelessly so that each girl can achieve her best.

“I am particularly delighted that the girls have excelled in all subject areas giving them a fantastic educational platform on which to build. The girls who have received their GCSE results today will soon be starting at our Sixth Form where they will continue to develop their academic skills in our superb, brand new Sixth Form facilities.

“Our summer of excitement hasn’t quite finished – tomorrow, we take possession of our new Senior School in Tankerville Terrace in readiness for the start of the next academic year on 6th September.”
