Just before half-term we were treated to a visit by the popular author Robin Stevens, creator of the Wells and Wong series of murder mysteries. Beginning with Murder Most Unladylike, the series is set in the 1930s, and features two feisty schoolgirl detectives, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong.
Robin Stevens proved to be a fascinating speaker, describing what inspires her and how she composes her plots. At both Junior and Senior Schools she composed new plots for detective mysteries using ideas from the audience and examples of “evidence” from a selection she had brought with her, and she encouraged our girls to have a go at writing their own mystery stories.
With six books in the series and another on the way, we look forward to reading more of her vintage-style mysteries in the future.
