With an ambition to go into genetic engineering, Beth Tiplady from Gosforth was ‘relieved and very happy’ with her GCSE results today. They are a fantastic foundation for her planned A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry.
Beth said: “I didn’t sleep very well last night and I was nervous coming into school – the waiting was just the worst.”
As soon as she received her results envelope, Beth took no time in ripping it open to reveal the outcome of all her hard work.
“It took me a while to read how well I had done because I was shaking so much. I was hoping that I would get 7s”
Beth had however surpassed her own expectations in achieving an incredible seven 9s, two 8s and an A*.
With GCSEs behind her she is now looking forward to focus on her Science based A Levels.
Beth added: “I come from a very ‘sciency’ background. Both my parents are doctors, one of my sisters is studying to be a vet and my other sister is a dentist – my mum and sisters all came to this school from the age 3 or 4! I am really interested in the research aspect of Science which is why I am thinking of genetic engineering.”
