Life is an adventure at any age but when you are just starting Nursery and your school career, every day is a journey of discovery.
We don’t think that lessons should be all about filling young heads with facts and figures: teaching at Newcastle High School for Girls is about connecting with the girls, sparking their imaginations and thought processes and helping them to explore topics, question outcomes, discover solutions and to think for themselves.
We make learning fun, exciting and meaningful through our innovative and creative curriculum which takes teaching and learning into the outdoors as often as using our fantastic indoor spaces.
An inspiring learning environment underpins our approach and our Junior School has already undergone a multi-million pound redevelopment programme which included the stunning restoration of a Grade II John Dobson-designed villa. There are bright classrooms and spacious learning areas enabling an exciting approach to lessons – both indoor and outdoor.
Surrounded by five acres of wonderful grounds, we bring the outdoor curriculum to life through our sensory garden and picnic area, fire-pit with seating, pond and bog gardens, outdoor classrooms, woodland walks, wildflower areas and two all-weather sports surfaces.
Taking girls beyond the classroom is like unclipping their wings; it allows their minds the freedom to explore.
