New skills, joyful experiences and extended learning are all  brought into play through our extensive range of co-curricular activities.

Our co-curricular programme blends seamlessly with our curriculum – it is not ‘extra’ – it is joined up and relevant. It is open to all and appropriate for each girl at Newcastle High School for Girls.

We are reviewing our 2020/21 programme in the interests of safety during the ongoing Covid-19 situation but you can view the Co-Curricular programme for 2019/20 here:

The girls get involved in a myriad of activities and events in Music, the Arts, Sport and Dance with clubs and performances a regular feature of School life.  Tying in with our creative curriculum topics, the girls also go on an educational visit every half term, be it exploring Jesmond Dene, visiting local nurseries or attending workshops at the Centre for Life.  We want them to know that learning takes place outside of the classroom and school.  We also encourage the girls to think beyond themselves to both their School and the wider community.  Links with international schools and supporting local and national charities are all very much part of School life at Newcastle High School for Girls.

Through our co-curriculum we help girls to discover their talents, broaden their horizons, develop resilience and to be a good citizen, all essential elements of a truly rounded education.
