Laura Evans, Sunderland

1 A* and 2 As in Geography, Biology and Philosophy

Off to study Geography at Manchester University

Channelling the family’s interest in geography and the environment will see Laura Evans move to Manchester to study Geography.

Laura’s sister Megan got trapped in Nepal following the earthquake in 2015 before Laura sat her AS exams and led to a media frenzy on her return to the UK. The experience impacted on the whole family and helped influence Laura’s choice of Geography at University.

An emotional Laura said:

“We are a close knit family and we all have similar interests in geography and the environment.

“Both my sisters helped me focus on my studies. After my AS results I worked really hard to turn my results around and am so delighted I’ve landed an A* and 2 As at A level and a place at Manchester University to study Geography.”

A family tradition, started when Laura’s oldest sister collected her GCSEs, saw all the family including Laura’s two sisters, mum and dad and the family dog, Leo bundle into the car to collect the results.
