Mrinal was overwhelmed with joy after achieving GCSE results that surpassed even her own high expectations, after earning 9 grade 9s and a grade 8.
“During my exams I felt quite stressed and had high aspirations, but I wasn’t expecting the results I got,” she said.
After spending much of the summer enjoying time in London, Mrinal admitted that coming in to collect her results this morning felt even more daunting than the examinations themselves.
“Opening the envelope was probably the scariest part of the whole GCSE experience,” she said. “I was completely shocked and so happy when I saw my results.”
She will now study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A Level in Sixth Form at Newcastle High School for Girls, as she pursues her ambition of becoming a doctor.
“I’ve always found medicine fascinating because it’s constantly changing and there are so many different paths you can take while helping people.”
Recent work experience in paediatrics and involvement in the school’s Medical Society have reinforced her desire to pursue a career in healthcare.
Having attended NHSG since Nursery, Mrinal says one of its greatest strengths is the supportive atmosphere.
“It feels like home here. Everyone works together and supports each other, and I really like the all-girl environment.”
Mrinal is particularly excited about the greater independence of Sixth Form and the chance to focus on the subjects she enjoys most. To celebrate her success, she plans to spend time with friends.
