Rosie Hurcombe will be taking up her place at Sheffield University to study Aerospace Engineering – with year in North America at Sheffield University after gaining an incredible four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics at Newcastle High School for Girls.

Talking about her achievement Rosie said: “I had already checked on UCAS track before coming into school so I knew my place at Sheffield was secure so I expected to see three As on my results sheet.  When I opened my results with my parents I had to check the results definitely had my name on as we were so shocked!”

Rosie’s results will be an excellent foundation for her course in Aerospace Engineering, something for which she has developed a real passion.

She said: “I have always been interested in engineering and after reading about my options I chose Aerospace. I also was set on going to Sheffield because I am a keen climber and there are so many opportunities in the Sheffield area for me to continue with this interest.”

Mr and Mrs Hurcombe were both delighted for their daughter.  Mrs Hurcombe said: I am very happy – in fact over the moon. Rosie has done well all the way through school but she is definitely a Scientist and this will be the right course for her. We will be sad for Rosie to leave home but I know that she is more than ready to do so.”
