Preparing for university
Whatever the girls want to study, we will prepare them well for university entrance in the UK or abroad. Virtually all girls go on to university or Art, Drama and Music Schools. Every year we have a significant number of girls achieving places at Oxbridge and other Russell Group institutions in a whole range of subject areas.Destinations of our most recent leavers
To help girls make the right choice, we have a substantial programme of activities and support. Oxbridge candidates are able to attend a GDST Conference to help support them while making their applications. Girls wanting to pursue Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science have specialist support and practise interview opportunities and our Sixth Form Team and Careers Advisor are on hand to guide and support all girls in their choice of course and university.
Every girl is assigned a personal tutor to help her with her UCAS application and Personal Statement and the Director of Sixth Form and Headmistress meet with each to discuss her application to ensure it is the best that it can be.
Acquiring additional skills
It is important that girls attain skills for life beyond their academic studies. Our Enrichment activities are further strengthened in Sixth Form by the GDST Career Start programme designed to help girls develop the skills they will need for university and the work place, for example, the girls in Year 12 attend a networking workshop and then have to host their own networking event – it is a challenging experience but highly valuable and praised by employers.
Through the GDST, we offer Insight Days with businesses to help Sixth Form girls learn more about industry, commercial awareness and graduate employment. We run these in partnership with businesses such as Nomura, HSBC, Aberdeen Asset Management and BDO.
These days provide girls with crucial exposure to real working environments, the opportunity to network with senior professionals and to gain a valuable insight into the competitive graduate recruitment market – something which is becoming increasingly important.
Scholarships and awards
Another of the enormous benefits of being part of the Girls’ Day School Trust is the number of special scholarships and awards the girls are able to apply for. These are unique to the GDST. Download the leaflet below for full details.
Support for life
Even when the Sixth Form years are complete, results received and university places accepted, we will continue to help. All girls join the unique GDST Alumnae network – a powerful and supportive group of over 60,000 members offering a gateway to professional and social coaching, networking and opportunitiesGDST Alumnae Network
