Newcastle High School for Girls is the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two long-standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back 150 years.

Where we're located
We are an all through school (ages 3-18) and the Junior and Senior Schools occupy their own separate campuses around a mile apart. Boasting outstanding facilities and resources, our two campuses are situated within the suburban, leafy, areas of Sandyford and Jesmond, with excellent transport links to the Tyne and Wear Metro and bus services from across the region.

We have a thorough Induction Programme for all staff as well as an extensive Continuous Professional Development Programme. Initial Teacher Training
Newcastle High School for Girls works in close partnerships with Durham University and the Durham SCITT in giving a small number of training placements in the senior school every year.  These institutions have an excellent reputation for training and supporting new entrants to the profession. We offer high quality mentoring and support for all our trainees as well as first class facilities and ongoing professional development.
