Newcastle High School for Girls is the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two long-standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back 150 years.

Where we're located
We are an all through school (ages 3-18) and the Junior and Senior Schools occupy their own separate campuses around a mile apart. Boasting outstanding facilities and resources, our two campuses are situated within the suburban, leafy, areas of Sandyford and Jesmond, with excellent transport links to the Tyne and Wear Metro and bus services from across the region.

Initial Teacher Training
Newcastle High School for Girls works in close partnership with Whitburn Church of England Academy to deliver high class Initial Teacher Training (ITT). This unique partnership offers ITT students the opportunity to train in the independent and state sectors, experiencing the best of both for high quality school led training. Whitburn Church of England Academy, formerly the Lead school in the Prince Bishop Teaching School Alliance, has an excellent reputation for training and supporting new entrants to the profession. We offer high quality mentoring and support for all our trainees as well as first class facilities and ongoing professional development.

Start date - with immediate effect and until May 2025 The North East’s leading independent girls’ day school has an exciting opportunity to provide administrative services to both Junior and Senior schools of this thriving and busy school, one of twenty-five schools in the Girls’ Day School Trust. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and multi-skilled administrator who will work within the whole-school data and administration team to support the effective functioning of all areas of the school. The role will include covering the School’s main Reception, and therefore the successful candidate will be the first port of call for parents, pupils and visitors to the school. This varied role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a significant impact to the running of the school through their flexible approach to customer service and support. NHSG is fully committed to providing training and support to the successful candidate.

Newcastle High School for Girls (NHSG) has an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and confident leader to take on the Head of Food and Nutrition from September 2024. This is an opportunity for someone with enthusiasm and passion to grow a Food Technology department and play role in the schools’ longer-term vision.  Food Technology is a popular option subject currently being taught at GCSE. In September 2024, we are looking to bring Food Technology into Year 9, with a longer plan of introducing the subject into Year 7 and 8, as part of the schools longer the commitment to developing STEM across the curriculum.
Closing Date: Tuesday 7th May 2024 (12 noon). Interviews will take place on week commencing 13th May 2024. Applicants will be advised of the interview date in due course and must be available for an in-person interview on this date.

Primary School Teacher

Permanent – Full time
Salary: ECT Band £31,000 – to PL2 Band £45,000 - Subject to qualifications and experience
Start: 1 September 2024
Based at our Junior School (Nursery to Year 6), Chapman House, Sandyford Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1TA. We wish to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and committed Primary School Teacher in our superbly appointed Nursery to Year 6 setting. The successful applicant will have a warm, personable and engaging manner and will contribute to providing a first-class education for our primary-aged pupils by teaching with expertise, confidence and enthusiasm, having regard to curriculum planning and will teach challenging, well-organised and absorbing lessons informed by secure knowledge and sound pedagogy.  The appointed person will take responsibility for coordination of an allocated subject area across Junior School, to be negotiated depending on interest and expertise. They should be able to offer tailored support to the learning of individual pupils and support consistent delivery of the school’s pastoral aims, as well as play a key role in supporting the school’s extensive co and extra-curricular provision.
