Newcastle High School for Girls is the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two long-standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back 150 years.
Where we're located
We are an all through school (ages 3-18) and the Junior and Senior Schools occupy their own separate campuses around a mile apart. Boasting outstanding facilities and resources, our two campuses are situated within the suburban, leafy, areas of Sandyford and Jesmond, with excellent transport links to the Tyne and Wear Metro and bus services from across the region.

Initial Teacher Training
Newcastle High School for Girls works in close partnership with Whitburn Church of England Academy to deliver high class Initial Teacher Training (ITT). This unique partnership offers ITT students the opportunity to train in the independent and state sectors, experiencing the best of both for high quality school led training. Whitburn Church of England Academy, formerly the Lead school in the Prince Bishop Teaching School Alliance, has an excellent reputation for training and supporting new entrants to the profession. We offer high quality mentoring and support for all our trainees as well as first class facilities and ongoing professional development.
