Newcastle High School for Girls is the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school. Founded in 2014 following the merger of two long-standing predecessor schools, NHSG is a state-of-the-art, modern school with a tradition and history stemming back 150 years.

Where we're located
We are an all through school (ages 3-18) and the Junior and Senior Schools occupy their own separate campuses around a mile apart. Boasting outstanding facilities and resources, our two campuses are situated within the suburban, leafy, areas of Sandyford and Jesmond, with excellent transport links to the Tyne and Wear Metro and bus services from across the region.

Initial Teacher Training
Newcastle High School for Girls works in close partnerships with Durham University and the Durham SCITT in giving a small number of training placements in the senior school every year.  These institutions have an excellent reputation for training and supporting new entrants to the profession. We offer high quality mentoring and support for all our trainees as well as first class facilities and ongoing professional development.

Lunchtime Supervisor – Senior School

We have a vacancy available to start as soon as possible after the half term break working at our Senior School.
Salary: £14.24 per hour
Start: 2 November 2026
Working hours: 7.25 hours per week, (12:20-13:50 daily) working over 5 days. Term Time Only. We are seeking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisor to provide support and supervision in the school dining room at lunchtimes in our Senior School. At Senior School this would include ensuring pupils eat in a well ordered and appropriate manner, oversee specific pupils with dietary needs, as directed by the Pastoral Team and record observations, where necessary, on CPOMS. Supervise the clearing of tables and plates and support the Sixth Form Leadership team in managing the lunch queue and reporting concerns. Also have the ability to be able to watch many children at once and spot potential problems early. All training would be provided by NHSG to ensure you could carry out your role confidently.
