Our Year 5 teams, pictured, were crowned the regional winners of the Royal Air Force Fly to the Line Glider Challenge at the North East Aircraft Museum on 7th February. Working in teams, girls have been busy designing, building and testing gliders made of foam board as part on an initiative to engage primary school children with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects. At the Regional Final girls created brand new aircrafts using their learned techniques and put them to the test once again, to compete for the ‘longest glide’. Now successful Regional Finalists, they will be heading to the National Final in April this year where they will make and fly their final designs for the national prizes.
Good luck girls!
